Mycobacteria can also be stained with auramine and viewed with fluorescence microscopy, in which acid fast bacilli now appear as glowing yellow rods. Its active constituents can efficiently kill many pathogenic bacteria for example Staphylococcus aureus, colibacillus and Blastomyces albicans.
